As we can read at reuters.com through hacking of exchanges and trading platforms crypto-thieves stole $927 million this year already. This is 250% more than last year according to a report from U.S.-based cyber security firm CipherTrace.
In 2017 value of stolen digital currencies from exchanges was $266 million.
Also according to CipherTrace Anti-Money Laundering report 97% of Criminal Bitcoin directly received by Exchanges flowed into those unregulated located in Countries with weak AML laws.
Cryptocurrencies are more and more popular so also a lot of scammers and hackers trying to steal as much as possible. It is very likely that in this year value of stolen crypto will rise to $1 billion. This is the biggest warning that you can get yo withdraw your assets from exchanges. Never hold a lot of crypto in exchange or web wallets.
